Cathay's presence in Vietnam began with the establishment of Cathay United Bank's first branch in Quang Nam in 2005. This was followed by the sequential rollout of its member subsidiaries, including Cathay Life Vietnam and Cathay Insurance Vietnam, in line with the group's strategy of long-term investment and sustainable development.

After more than 17 years of operation, Cathay Life Vietnam has around 2,400 consultants, serving over 500,000 customers with more than 260,000 in-force insurance policies [2].

Cathay Financial Group’s core strategy focuses on developing a professional team of consultants, based on the philosophy of "Insurance for everyone, happiness for every home," in which people are considered the most important asset of the insurance industry.

Regarding digital transformation, the company inherits and localizes effective experiences and tools from the Taiwan market. Electronic insurance policies, claims processing via mobile phones, and digital consulting platforms have been deployed synchronously to optimize operations and enhance customer experience.

In the coming period, Cathay Life Vietnam aims to expand its presence in major urban areas while accelerating the application of digital technology and artificial intelligence, including tools like AI Coach, to improve team productivity and service quality, aiming to create sustainable value for customers and the Vietnamese insurance market.

Cathay Insurance Vietnam: Expanding non-life insurance based on digitalization, ecosystems, and long-term commitment

Digital transformation is considered a key lever to enhance customer experience and distribution efficiency. Cathay Insurance (Vietnam) has deployed two core platforms, including Smart Agent Go for agents and Mobile Web serving both sales staff and customers.

Through these platforms, the enterprise connects with many major partners in the technology and consumer sectors. Typical examples include the partnership with MoMo to provide e-wallet account insurance and compulsory motorcycle insurance, as well as the collaboration with iVIVU for flight delay insurance featuring automated, low-cost, and user-friendly claim processes.

In the coming time, Cathay Insurance Vietnam aims to develop based on three pillars: Digital transformation, financial ecosystem expansion, and human resource quality improvement. The goal is to simultaneously increase market share, improve consulting quality, expand cross-industry connections, and strive toward the role of a long-term insurance partner accompanying Vietnamese citizens and businesses.
